Yalding Gardens Summer 2010

Monday is Funday at The Yalding Gardens this summer holidays! Every Monday we will be doing something fun to entertain your little ones as well as a few special events on other days. In addition to children’s activities, we have events, talks and tours to inspire and excite green fingered friends of all ages.

Saturday 4th September:

Beginner’s Guide to Cut Flowers and Arranging -

Make your own Hand-tied Bouquet

with Blooming Green

Join Bek and Jen from Blooming Green (as seen on Channel 4’s: My Dream Farm) to learn about cut flowers and foliage, and how to turn them into beautiful hand-tied bouquets. All flowers and foliage will be provided on the day. Blooming Green was set up by cousins Bek and Jen, on the family farm in Kent, to offer people an eco-friendly alternative to conventional floristry. They create gorgeous hand-tied bouquets wrapped in home-compostable and recycled packaging to provide a 'green' alternative to conventional flowers. 10.30 to 12.30.

Thursday 9th September:

Gardening for Wildlife - Tour and Talk

Come and enjoy a guided tour of the gardens conducted by our resident head gardener Sheryl Richardson followed by an evening talk by former head gardener and organics expert Nick Robinson. There will be plenty of opportunity to ask Sheryl and Nick questions throughout the tour and after the talk. The evening will begin at 18.00 and finish at approx 21.00.

Suitable for 16+. Booking essential. Please call 01622 814650.

Cost: £12.00 to non-members £10.00 to members. Price to include tour, talk and light refreshments.

Sunday 12th September:

Cream Tea and a Tour of The Yalding Gardens

Come and enjoy a guided tour of The Yaldiung Gardens where you will be given information on the history of gardening, the story of The Gardens at Yalding including hints and tips on how to get the best from organic gardening. Following the tour you can relax and enjoy one of our lovely cream teas on the terrace. Tour starts at 14.00 promptly so please arrive 10 minutes before the start.

Cost: £10.00 for non members £6.50 for members (price includes cream tea!)

Composting and Recycling - Tour and Talk.
